Along with San Francisco’s Deerhoof, New York’s Asobi Seksu are one of two American bands led by female Japanese singers to have made a pretty sizable splash in the indie rock scene. Asobi Seksu consists of singer Yuki Chikudate and guitarist James Hanna, with a rotating cast of drummers and bassists filling out their live show. Compared to Deerhoof’s angular alt-rock, Asobi Seksu’s music tends more to the dreamy, poppy end of the musical spectrum. They arrive to play songs off their latest disc Fluorescence, in their first Japan tour in five years.

O-Nest, May 15; O-West, May 18 (listing).
