Cosplay steps out of the maid cafe and into the nightclub for an evening of upscale fun at Roppongi dance palace Alife. CharaPa! (“Character Party!”) seeks to lend a note of distinction to the celebration of anime culture with an event that’s marked as much by its varied contents as by the number of folks who show up in costume. In addition to appearances by moe culture idols Team JyunJyo and maid group atGumi, there will be talk shows featuring anime experts, performances by Yoshimoto Kogyo comedians—and, if that wasn’t enough, even a guest spot by fallen internet icon and anti-establishment figure Takafumi Horie, apparently himself an anime fanatic.
