Drum and bass flirted with mainstream success when Roni Size won the Mercury Prize in 1997. But it took another 15 years for British bass music—in the form of its latest incarnation dubstep—to hit the big time, ironically thanks to an American, Skrillex. So the stage is set for this battle of British bass-music generations. The old guard is Goldie, instantly recognizable from his gold teeth and practically a mascot for the form. The youthful contender is 22-year-old Youngsta, who can be heard banging out the dubstep on leading London pirate station Rinse FM.

Unit, Jun 16 (listing).
