The latest in an ever-shifting series of New Orleans funk collectives to hit Japan is Dumpstaphunk. The group is led by keyboardist Ivan Neville of the legendary Neville brothers, and includes other members of the clan along with heavy-hitting female protégé Nikki Glaspie on drums. Following an appearance at the Fuji Rock Festival, Dumpstaphunk is to play just one Tokyo date in Shibuya. The night will open with a set by fellow Crescent City musician, irrepressible drummer Stanton Moore, backing Japan’s own Black Bottom Brass Band.

Club Quattro, Jul 30 (listing).
