In trying to determine the special characteristics of architecture, say the curators at the Museum of Modern Art Tokyo, it is important to examine how and in what form it arises. With this in mind, the MOMAT presents “Where is Architecture? Seven Installations by Japanese Architects.” Instead of the usual diagrams and scale models, the show offers specially created installations, including a space carved out of three types of polyhedrons and an exhibit where a “space is born and dies.” Celebrated exhibitors include Toyo Ito, although recent Pritzker Prize winners SANAA are, sadly, missing.
