Le Mont-St-Michel is a great restaurant and a unique dining experience (unless you're a long-time fan of galettes). I love the wine list as well, which focuses on vigorous and lively wines from the south of France.

Better than the cheesy GuruNavi page (linked above) though is the actual restaurant website, here: http://www.creperie-mont-st-michel.com/jp/sas/welcome/top.

There is also a Vinotokyo review with food pix here: http://www.vinotokyo.com/e/index.php/component/content/article/36-restaurants/332-le-mont-st-michel

A16 - Great atmosphere, but don't get the pizza. I know most people will go here just for the atmosphere, and it is really nice. The pizza however is not that great. They don't use a real wood fired oven and it just doesn't have that Italian taste. The crust is too hard and the pizza itself is pretty bland. I would still go back here, but I would try the pasta next time. This a good place to go to if you want to impress your date or have drinks with your business buddies. But if you just want great pizza in Marunouchi, go to Isola Smerelda in the Marunouchi building or Da Cibo in Tokyo station.

What happened? They have gone from great to below average. This place was really great the first time I went there, shortly after reading this review. All of the dishes were delicious and the presentation was second to none. Service was outstanding as well. There was a waiter who spoke very good English too. The beef salad (my favorite Thai dish) was the best I had ever had. I am used to very spicy food, and usually have to ask to have my food re-made to be more spicy at most Thai restaurants in Tokyo. But everything was perfect on the first time here. I thought I had found my new favorite Thai restaurant in Tokyo.

However, last time I was there it was obvious to me that they had changed things to try and save money. Every beef item on the menu was "unavailable today". A disappointment, since I went there for the beef salad. The presentation of the items was not the same either. Those wonderful spring rolls that came with 3 dipping sauces, we were now served plain. I had to ask for the sauce and then they brought it out separately. They were lukewarm as well and I wondered if they had been mircrowaved. Also, the food was just not spicy. I had to ask to get everything made again. Don't get me wrong, most of the food was still pretty good (although the green curry was the worst I've ever eaten), but it wasn't anything special. This was once a restaurant I would have made a special trip just to go eat there. Now it's just a place I would eat at if I was in the neighborhood and couldn't find anything better. There are plenty of better Thai restaurants in Tokyo. BTW, I don't know how anyone would consider this one of Tokyo's most "elegant" restaurants. Sure it's nice and clean inside, but if you want elegant Thai food go to Jim Thompson's.

About this week's word of mouth, I think it would be a nice idea for Metropolis to have a feature on all the weird and unusual stuff you see on some of those kaiten sushi places. I've seen calbee sushi, ham, corn salad, spam, eggplant, canned tuna-mayo etc. Some are actually not bad!
