Not to be outdone by rival beverage giant Asahi and its Oktoberfest in Hibiya Park, Sapporo is holding its own booze-up from September 18-23. The Yebisu Beer Festival celebrates the 15th anniversary of Yebisu Garden Place (www.gardenplace.jp), and every day from 11:30am-9pm, visitors can sample four brews on draft in the Beer Hall, including The Hop and Kohaku. Stick around for the J-Wave-sponsored Otoajito, a series of live acoustic performances every day at 2pm, by artists including Taiji Sato, Kotringo and multi-instrumentalist Maia Barouh. Meanwhile, youngsters can have a commemorative photo taken with Sapporo’s kawaii mascot, Ribbon-chan.
