It was with this vision that the Japan Racing Association, in concert with popular Tokyo radio station InterFM, hosted the winners of “The Day at the Races” contest on Sunday, November 13. Winners were treated to a luxurious and exciting day of horse racing at the JRA Tokyo Racecourse in Fuchu. The international group of enthusiastic participants hailed from the USA, the UK, Argentina and China. Under beautiful blue skies they enjoyed a weekend surrounded by nature at the Tokyo Racecourse with full access to their own reserved VIP room.

After enjoying a champagne lunch, they were given a guided walking tour of the grounds. Watching up close from the parade ring, they could get right up close to the horses and experience first hand all of the heart-pounding action of a day at the races.

After watching the main race, they retired once again to the VIP room to relax and relive the excitement. All agreed the race was a wonderful occasion to share with family and friends. The upcoming Arima Kinen may be your best opportunity to experience it. At this unique year-end event, ten horses are chosen by popular vote—and this year Japan Cup Winner Buena Vista, 2011 Triple Crown Winner Orfevre and 2011 Dubai World Cup Winner Victoire Pisa are the top three favorites. “The Arima Kinen—its very name evokes feelings of celebration and nostalgia. It’s the Nakayama year-end finale, a race that without a doubt lies closest to the hearts of Japan’s racing fans. Memories of old friends, memories of new, the camaraderie of times together, the quiet melancholy of parting, expectations and a lot of hope, these make up the Arima mix. Racing alongside some of the old-timers are the brightest stars of the year, in a field largely gathered by the direct vote of the fans. The horses they most want to see, one more time, perhaps one last time. Bets go down across the field. Backed and fingers crossed. This time she can do it. This time he can win. End the old year with a bang. New dreams are just around the bend. Lest old acquaintance be forgot, catch them at the Arima.”
