Do you know a young person who’s working to create positive change in society? How about nominating them for the 2010 Mario Savio Young Activist Award? Named after the late free speech activist, the annual award honors a person between 16 and 26 who is campaigning for “social change, [and] promoting the values of peace, human rights, economic or social justice, or freedom of expression.” The $6,000 prize will be split between the honoree and an organization of his or her choice. Finalists will be asked to provide additional supporting documents, and there’s one other caveat: the work should have some connection to the US.
Nominations due by June 30. See www.savio.org/young_activist_award.html for more information.
