Why do most of your movie reviews say 'Playing at', followed by a blank space?
Most frustrating!

@Ian We have one person responsible for tying our online movie listings to their respective theaters, dates and times online who unfortunately has only a few short hours available to do so per week. So, yeah, sometimes it comes online a little late. Of course, all of this info is available in the print version of the magazine (which you can also download here: http://metropolis.co.jp/) if you want to get out and see the movie—which is pretty good, by the way.
Still, thanks for the feedback.

Once again, sounds like a must-see movie. But.............no idea where or when it's playing. Another example of why Metropolis is not as good as it thinks it is.

Biggest asshole in rock? Do you even know who Ted Nugent is? Sharon Osbourne is thrice the asshole Ozzy is.
You also said his biggest accomplishment is going sober which means you are omitting he fact that he was singer for the band that is almost totally responsible for distinguishing metal as a genre. You might be ignorant of this fact or you might have omitted it in deeming it not worth mentioning. Either way you are clearly a talentless slag writer who doesn't know how to write a concise review without using it as a soap box for personal opinions.
I expect nothing less from a magazine that selects its writers by availability rather than ability, as seems to be the case. Metropolis reviews are worse than those found in magazines published for Mormon teens. Back to the topic, it's true Ozzy may have the IQ of topsoil, but he's essentially as harmless and Keith Richards with a warm glass of milk. Asshole.

Don, I think it has more to do with the information we (don't) get from the front. In contrast with the media coverage of the Vietnam war, today the reporters are imbedded, the reports are redacted, and the TV news is supine. Based on what we are being told, what's to protest against?

Is this guy serious? He's worried about middle ages-type people who evolve in the distant future after we're hit with an ice age 60,000 years from now who don't have the capacity to measure radiation yet dig 4+ kilometers into the ground on a treasure hunt?!!! I couldn't care less about hypothetic human-like creatures that may or may not ever exist.

Despite the relevance of the Fukushima disaster, I can't imagine a less relevant, less hard hitting documentary. Further, it should be about 10 minutes long. I bailed after 35.

My wife and I just saw this movie and we both thought it was terrific. Yes, it was all about herself, her mother, her daughter, her friends, etc--a totally personal movie. Not many people could get away with that--clearly she didn't with your reviewer, who was somehow offended--but it is a shame if the review keeps people from seeing the film. I think many will be fascinated, and would appreciate the point that every single voice in that film was ambivalent about Japan and about her (in one case his) situation.

i went to see this today in a Tokyo cinema with my kids. Most of the film is entertaining, but there is a scene in which the two main characters have to out run a huge wave of water coming to them set off by the collapse of a dam wall. They run into a small cave with no visible means of escape and realise they are about to drown - all of this in 3D! While my kids did not seem too disturbed by this I found it very inappropriate given that this is only a week since the tsunami hit the Tohouku region. I am surprised that the film has continued to be shown! Please be advised that even though it is an animation this particular scene may cause unnecessary upset.
