Recently, various directors have offered their visions of the end of the world, from the phenomenally preposterous 2012 to the thoughtful, unsettling Melancholia. Auteur Abel Ferrara posits that, well, Al Gore was right. The ozone layer deteriorated faster than anyone expected and the world, or at least all the things living in it, will somehow end at 4:44 (EST) tomorrow morning. Drama centers on a Lower East Side NYC apartment where Willem DaFoe and Shanyn Leigh rant, have sex, work, have sex, paint, have sex, Skype, have sex and watch TV as the clock ticks down. I found it a little precious.
