I learned from this film that there was once a thriving punk scene in Vancouver, one that was as important as those in San Francisco and Los Angeles in defining “West Coast Punk.” I did not know that. But there’s sooo much I don’t know about punk music. Cinematically speaking, though, Susanne Tabata’s impressively comprehensive documentary on the subject is knowledgeable and brisk, and offers occasional insights from a succession of aging punks pining for the good old gigs gone by. While not everyone’s cup of tea, the film is ultimately successful in describing a time and a feeling.
