Unless you’re a fan of that little black dress and that famous perfume, this loopy, overlong hagiography is going to bore your socks off. A hugely miscast Shirley MacLaine plays the designer at 71, spouting riveting Coco-isms like “Dresses should both crawl and fly” (Huh?), and setting up flashbacks where she turns into Slovakian hottie Barbora Bobulova. We learn how Chanel morphed from a starving seamstress into the fashion icon she is today. Am I keeping you awake? (Her palling around with Nazis is omitted.) This Lifetime Channel TV movie makes Marie Antoinette seem like an action thriller.
