Disappointing adaptation of a pretentious novel

In this disappointing adaptation by David Cronenberg of the pretentious Don DeLillo novel, a morally bankrupt young one-percenter crossing Manhattan in his limo has sex a few times, gets a prostate exam, loses billions (all inside the limo) and spouts reams of morose, pseudo-profound philosophical inanities that will please only the film’s tiny intended audience of poseurs. Rarely has a movie spewed more self-conscious verbiage and said less. And it gets worse, since Twilight heartthrob Robert Pattinson plays the lead. His vacuous, obtuse performance takes all this to new heights of banality.
