Hanna

High-tech action plus deep mystery

A teenage girl (Saoirse Ronan—Atonement), who has spent her entire life in the forests of Finland being trained by her father (Eric Bana) to be a skilled assassin, is sent out into the world on a mission to kill the CIA agent (Cate Blanchett) responsible for her mother’s death and who is still hunting dad. Hanna is a downy, pale killing machine, and part of the movie’s intrigue is how she reacts to things she has never experienced, like TV. Or kindness. Or families. This beautifully composed film combines high-tech action with deep mystery and throws in Grimm’s fairy tales, yet it still feels original.
