Artfully filmed look at homelessness in Dublin

Colm Meaney puts in a meticulous, sympathetic performance in this engaging character study of a respectable but newly homeless man living in his car in a seaside Dublin lot. Fred starts a cautious, improbable friendship with Cathal (Colin Morgan), the lot’s only other “resident,” a young borderline junkie. Fred tries to get the boy off drugs, while in turn Cathal teaches him the homeless ropes. They bond. Meanwhile Fred shyly pursues the widowed piano teacher (Milka Ahlroth) he met at the sports center where he cleans up. Artfully filmed and with a beautiful acoustic soundtrack. (94 min)
