Hotheaded and, it has to be said, gullible god of thunder (Chris Hemsworth) reignites an ancient war in Asgard, whereupon his dad, Odin (Anthony Hopkins), strips him of his powers and cast him down to live among the mortals of New Mexico, one of whom is this cute scientist (Natalie Portman). Being SFX-driven “entertainment,” expect lots of zowie light and motion, but the story’s just there to link them together. Better than some superhero flicks; you couldn’t call it cookie-cutter. But it’s far from the best. Just not that interesting. No memorable pronouncements. No unanticipated action. No… thunder.
