Screaming, fuming, crazy-man Cage is ho-hum again

Those who have watched in dismay as Oscar-winner Nicolas Cage methodically trashes his career with ever more groan-worthy roles may want to skip this direct-to-DVD turkey. It’s just too depressing. A reformed criminal whose hottie teenage daughter is kidnapped and murdered by the Russian mob gets his old gang back together to seek retribution. How’s that for originality? Cage rolls out his whole screaming, fuming, crazy-man bag of tricks but, you know, ho-hum. Lots of shooting, killing, tough talk, torture, sadism, and sneering Russkies. Moronic twist ending. Title refers to a Soviet-made handgun. (97 min)
