Social commentary

Planet-crossed lovers Jim Sturges (breathlessly boyish) and Kirsten Dunst (basically a smiley face) live on twin, nearly abutting worlds with conflicting gravities (called “Up Top” and “Down Below”). Geez, as if it weren’t hard enough to hook up these days! None of this exasperating idiocy makes a lick of sense, but that’s okay, see, because this is, like, social commentary (although of the comically obvious variety). Visually enthralling, but one of the dumbest flicks you’ll see this year. It doesn’t even abide by the wacky laws of physics it posits. This one’s gone seriously sideways.
