Dramatized fake doc on the life and death of Darby Crash, frontman for LA punk band The Germs, is more concerned with the lyricist’s fall than his rise, and fails to explain to non-fans like me why this group mattered. Still, for those that care, though it lacks insights, it’s well crafted and an authentic depiction of the band’s riotous scene (they were banned from every punk venue in the city, since all their appearances ended in club-destroying riots). Shane West does a good impression of Crash, Bijou Phillips scores as Lorna Doom, and Rick Gonzalez is a believable Pat Smear. But fans only, please.
