1. Bayonetta. Stylish over-the-top action mixed with a polished sense of camp make for one of the most enjoyable action games in years.
2. Tales of Vesperia (PS3). Textbook example of how to do a remake: add tons of new content and more pirates.
3. Borderlands. Not quite up to the sublime standards of Fallout 3 or Bioshock, but a strong blend of RPG and FPS with beautiful presentation.
1. Ninja Gaiden Sigma. Popular weapons and game modes cut, dumbed-down difficulty, and not enough blood. All are unforgivable sins for a ninja game, particularly the last.
2. Persona 3 PSP. Just get the FES version on PS2. It’s better in every way.
3. Bayonetta (PS3). I’ve seen some shoddy ports in my day, but this is really lazy. Plays just as well but is graphically inferior on several fronts. WTF, Sega?
