Professor Laurence Kominz received his Ph.D. in Japanese literature from Columbia University and is currently living in Japan and teaching at Tokyo's prestigiousnbsp;Waseda University. He told us that his specialty is Japanese drama, and that he has also taken performance lessons in noh, kyogen, kabuki, and gidayu bushi (recitation for Bunraku puppet theatre). Recently, Dr. Kominz joined us for hot pastrami sandwiches at Suji's and among many, many other interesting things told us that kabuki was like the "reality show" of it's day.
